Description
Like all of Grifin's iTrip products, iTrip Auto Universal Plus lets you listen to your MP3 player through your car's stereo speakers. We call this one universal because it works with virtually any MP3 player that has a 1/8 (3.5mm) headphone jack. And we call this one Plus because it provides a means for powering and charging your player using your own charge/sync cable and an included USB port on the 12 Volt power adapter.Specification

The Odyssey was a bit trickier. You see, Honda decided to use the front speakers of the sound system to patch in Navigation (if so equipped) commands when necessary. Essentially, there is a splitter that switches between the radio and Navi for the front speakers. This means that if you install an aftermarket radio, you either have to rig up all kinds of switches and amps, or you lose the Navi audio. In comes the Griffin iTrip.
The iTrip seemed like the perfect solution - just plug it into aux power and the iTouch and tune in the appropriate station on your radio. The first thing I did was adjust the iTrip to international setting as recommended by other reviewers and tune it to 87.9. Turned everything on in the garage and it worked. Sound was kinda fuzzy, but after turning the iTouch volume down to below 70% or so, it got listenable.
The first time out on the road, I was geeked because I could play all kinds of variety for my four children that wasn't available before. Plugged everything in and started up The Chronicles of Narnia radio drama. The first disappointment was a very noticeable whine over the radio that coordinated with engine speed. Don't know if it's a shielding or grounding issue, but this thing whirs the whole time you're driving. I wouldn't call it loud, but you can definitely hear it. OK, though, I could live with that - it's most noticeable in the quiet parts of the content. So after listening to the Narnia introduction and getting started with the story, there was some dialogue and then suddenly, only static. I looked down and the iTrip had gone blank. So I looked for the "On" button - no dice. Finally hit the preset selector button, which turned the unit on, but to the wrong station (it moved to the next preset). Of course, I later figured out to change all the presets to the 87.9 frequency, as other reviewers have mentioned. This turning off behavior happened over and over and over again - very annoying.
So I got home from that trip and did some reading, discovering the auto-off feature of this glorious device. No problem, I thought, I'll just turn up the volume on my iTouch. Tried that the next time out and sound quality was horrid. When I reduce the iTouch volume low enough to produce decent sound on the iTrip, the iTrip constantly turns itself off. It was so bad that the other day on the way to church, my two year old got to where he would chime in with "A-gain???" every time it shut off.
The reason I say the iTrip is useless for me is because I do have that family of six, with four small children. Apart from listening to (sometimes very annoying) kids songs, we mostly listen to either lullaby-type music or audio stories / dramatizations when we're all traveling together. The iTrip honestly just plain stinks for this. Between the audible whine and the unit constantly shutting off, I'd rather just burn CDs.
The reason I say it might work for you is, it only costs $11 right now (which is dirt cheap for something of this functionality and the build quality seems to be decent), and if you listen to loud music the thing won't turn itself off all the time and the music will mostly cover up the whine. Certainly don't expect HD Radio quality, but if you listen to normal to loud volume music all the time, this will get you by for pretty cheap.
Other thoughts:
1. If there were a way to override / defeat the auto-off feature on this, my rating would jump to 4 stars. It does appear to be well made.
2. The wires are a little lengthy for my needs (as stated by other reviewers), but better too long than too short. The transmitter itself is almost right in the middle of the wire run. I personally would prefer it to be closer to the headphone jack end than the power end. But that might be because the aux power outlet in my Odyssey is just above the floor.
3. I live in a pretty rural area, so the only issues I've had with interference were from passing another car which was obviously using a similar device on the same frequency. Then you get a little taste of their music.
Hope this helps with your decision.

be aware, though, of the location of ur vehicle's radio antenna...
my honda pilot antenna is in the rear side window -- about as far from the radio as u can get...
as a result, the limited transmission power of this product struggles to deliver a static free signal...
if the antenna is closer to the front of the vehicle, u'll love this product...

Pros:
Ease of use (very easy to find a clear station and select it)
Strength of signal
Cons:
Doesn't actually charge newer iPods/iPhones
Sometimes will just freak out and send shrieks of alien laser beam noise
Body is made of very flimsy weak plastic that can cause the electronic components to get shaken up easily.

Pros:
- Extremely reasonable price (compared to what they charge for similar devices at Best Buy)
- Great sound for an FM transmitter
- Easy to install and operate
- Long, flexible arm (the cigarette lighter in my car is recessed pretty deep; this device fits perfectly)
- Solid, attractive design that matches the style of the iPod/iPhone
Cons:
- Remote control only works when held directly in front of the device (low battery?)
- You must manually tune the device to a new frequency during signal disruption
- I was able to tune my old FM transmitter to 87.7, which is usually a clear frequency in most places; this one only allows you to tune from 88.1 - 107.9

I had purchased a Belkin AC wall adapter and car adapter a couple years ago for a Samsung mp3 player. The car adapter plugs into the cigarette lighter and has a USB socket on it. But when I plug in my Apple-supplied USB/dock cable, the 3G iPod Touch doesn't see it. You'd think 5VDC is 5VDC, but it's not. For some reason, the USB outlet on my computer works fine, the USB on the car adapter, no.
My friend's experience with so-called compatible chargers is even weirder: his aftermarket chargers work in some outlets in his house, but not others.
Now to specific on this Belkin design:
- by having the cord come out the side of the lighter plug, the profile is greatly reduced. I can actually route the cable down and close my ashtray with the charger neatly inside. (I have a vehicle that's old enough to have a real ashtray with a lighter -- yes, an old fashioned lighter -- still rolling around in it.) This feature may not fit all outlets, but I'd think it would be especially good for center-console applications where you don't want the cable extending into the console.
- the cable is a bit stiff, but functional, and is 49" long.
- the cable is black, so it's not too noticeable
- the black docking plug is much larger than the stock white Apple plug and almost impinges on the audio mini-plug. But they work.
- it has a little Euro-fuse that plugs into the side instead of a tubular fuse that unscrews out the front
- it has an LED to indicate it's receiving power.
- if you buy one of those inexpensive AC-to-cigarette adapters, you can plug this into that and not need to buy a dedicated AC wall adapter.
- price is a bit steep considering these things ought to be supplied with the iPod as a standard accessory, but the 3rd Gen iPod with Bluetooth, WiFi, built-in speaker and the large bright screen can really suck the power and I needed this.
Well, "need" is too much. Let's call it a blessing that I live in a country where my biggest problem is finding an iPod car charger that works....

The product packaging does not explicitly list iPhone models (e.g. iPhone, iPhone 3G, etc.), which caused me a little concern at first that I'd received the wrong product, but it did work with my iPhone 3G.
Overall, I'm very happy.

I own a 64gb iTouch 3g. I haven't found one single problem with my purchase. The charger works just as well as the one that came with my iTouch. The only difference (not a problem) with the charger is that you have to compress the side buttons before inserting it into your iTouch. There isn't one single difference in charge time. After reading so many other reviews I simply thought, "Ok, these chargers I'm going to buy have a USB port so I'll just use the USB cable that came with my iTouch. No big deal"
I'm pleased that I now have two working cables!!!! As we all know the battery life sucks on the iTouch when you're downloading apps and playing games. Now I can relax on my couch and play silly games for as long as I want without having to sit at my laptop.
I know one reviewer said something about the cables not working between the 2nd Gen & the 3rd. I'm pleased to say that that wasn't the case for me. I do find it odd that they would think Apple would change a simple charger for an iTouch yet it wouldn't change the charger for a dock. User error?
The silicone case fits absolutely perfectly! For me it was "two birds one stone" since I wanted a silicone case and an armband. I jogged around my block for about 30 minutes just to test it out and it didn't budge.
As for the headphones, no, they do not come with a mic....but I wasn't expecting that. They do work beautifully though.
I'm not using the screen protector that came with this. I already put the Zagg InvisibleShield on mine. Which I love!
I am totally anal about protecting my (after insurance and such) $500 investment. SOOOO, when I leave the house I put the silicone case over my hard case. So if I were to ever drop it, the silicone case would keep the plastic case from popping open.
Well, I really hope this helps you. I researched items here on Amazon and on Ebay. It's up to you to decide what you really need. Don't buy a package deal just because it comes with a lot of stuff. For me....this was everything I needed!
Cheers
